Link the content of D drive to C drive

Wednesday, October 29, 2008 Posted by Aman Jain

A drive can be linked to another drive on windows XP.You can use "junction.exe" to use this feature. It can be directly downloaded from URL
http://download.sysinternals.com/Files/junction.zip

Condition

1) All drives must be formatted with NTFS file system

2) Neither the source nor target folder should be open in another application ,in windows explorer .

After downloading function.zip file open the archive and save "junction.exe" file on your system, preferably in windows directory.Since files in it are automatically found when command is called up.Then open the command prompt and enter the following command :

junction C:\ project d:\data\project

Then , in the "Projects " folder on drive C , windows displays the content of subfolder which has the same name and which is located in drive D .You can always rename the folder or delete it to delete the link, the folders and data on drive d will remain unaffected .
