When you use [Windows] +[E] to open a Windows Explorer window, it opens in the two-pane layout. To have it open within a single pane by default, do the following :
In the Registry Editor, navigate to
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Folder\shell\explore\ddexec
Double click on the (Default) and change the string to
[ ViewFolder (“%1” , %I, %S) ] (including the brackets )
To revert to the double pane window, set (Default) to
[ ExploreFolder(“%1” , %I, %S) ]

Thanks! The main differences between these are that Windows Explorer has two panes, while My Computer has one pane. You can toggle between these pains by clicking the Folders icon at the top of the screen.

When opening Windows Explorer, a window opens that contains a list of files and folders and the properties for each element. The window in the interface is commonly known to Windows users.

During and after this transition of nature, we've continued to break stories in the world of Microsoft, be it word about Windows 7 before anyone else, stories such as the ability to selectively disable Internet Explorer.
